Because we carry so many manufacturers brands it was necessary to adopt a general size range and chart in order to streamline the search for our customers. The manufacturers however have their own sizing values: for instance in Snapper Rock a size Small is a 6, while Merimekko size Small is a 8/10. I know this can be confusing when you get your size Large 10/12 and it is labeled an X- Large. Rest assured that the sizing adjustment is due to making the sizing uniform for ordering across all manufacturers.
When you are ordering your suits keep in mind that a couple of our manufacturers tend to cut alittle small. Gossip Girl, Hula Star, and Hatley’s girl swimwear tends to be small especially in the one piece swimwear. Ordering the next size up is usually a good bet for the one piece suits and it will save you from having to make an exchange!

With the vast array of fabrics, colors, styles, and UV protectants in swimwear, the question of care is always a factor. If your kids are anything like mine, you come home from your day of swimming and your lucky if you don’t find their damp swimsuit crumpled in a corner of their room. Getting into the habit of caring for the swimwear will allow it to look it’s best throughout the season. Many of the swimwear manufacturers say that washing in cold water and air drying is the recommended method. I have found that the best method to keep the suits looking there best is to simply rinse out a suit in cold water after each swim and air dry. Chlorine is very hard on the fabrics and tends to fade the colors, so make sure after a pool swim it is rinsed quickly and well. I have hooks in my laundry room that are used for backpacks during the school year, and drying swimwear in the summer. Good luck keeping them off bedroom floors and have a great summer!

In February I was fortunate to attend the “Magic” and “Kids Show” fashion tradeshows in Las Vegas. My intention was to scope out the “latest and greatest” in children’s swimwear and to decide what products I should add in my boutique for next year. I attended with my best friend from Texas, who owns www.rainydaykids.com and I only see about once a year. It was the first tradeshow for either of us and the perfect excuse for us to get together in Las Vegas. Needless to say, I knew the chances of finding anything in swimwear would be slim because it was the Fall show. I was however, open minded and ready for the adventure. The show itself was impressive! The Convention Center was filled with all of the latest merchandise from international designers and manufacturers. There was wall-to-wall booths that errupted with everything trendy, sparkly, colorful, and over the top. It was retail at its finest. I am excited to report that I did find some items and companies that I am interested in and will be doing more research on. Although I was impressed with what I saw, I was more convinced than ever that I already have the best manufacturers and lines out there! I enjoyed the experience of the tradeshow and I am open to new merchandise and ideas. Keep letting Sea Turtle Swimwear know what you want and I will continue to look for the best swimwear available.

Lauri and I in Las Vegas
